Bellydance Classes - South Gate, Redondo Beach, Downey
Lailah has studied from the masters of Egyptian dance both here and abroad. Her dance background includes ballet, tap, jazz, tango, and flamenco. The love of Middle-Eastern music was the beginning of her passion to pursue the beautiful art form of Oriental dance. Lailah has worked with world-renowned dance groups such as Zahra Zuhair's Po Na Na Theatre Dance Company and Ya Amar Dance Company. Her talents have led her to film and stage presentations with the latest being "Veils of Innana" and the "Mermaid Song." Her latest endeavor has landed her a position in the prestigious and renowned Laila del Monte's Flamenco Dance Company as well as the Zahra Zuhair & Eshta Dance Company. She has just completed working on a project in conjunction with a fund-raising event to support research and patient care at the nationally renowned City of Hope Cancer Center in Southern California. Lailah can be found performing in fine dining establishments throughout the greater Los Angeles and Orange County, California area. In addition to her teaching and performing, Lailah has launched her own entertainment firm titled, "Iberian Entertainment." She brings a colorful and exciting ensemble of fusion between flamenco dance and Egyptian belly dance. Future projects include more fundraising functions and corporate event entertainment.
Lailah is available for classes and event performances. Other novelties include Belly Grams and Gift Certificates good towards classes or performances.
Work out to tone and shape your body while learning the beautiful ancient art of belly dance. These are mixed level classes that focus on body alignment while building up stamina. Upper and lower body exercises that focus on stomach, arm and hand movements, hip/buttock isolations, shimmies, layering, and undulations are taught to rhythmical North African beats. The finer points of basic to intermediate finger cymbals (zils) and veil work are covered. Performance opportunities for student recital shows are available.
Some of you may be aware that I have been doing lots of Art and Art related projects over the past few years. In fact, I now sign my name Penny Lee StewArt!
I recently painted 25 sketch cards of belly dancers, 2.5 x 3.5 inches in size. They are very collectible and make great gifts.
Please visit my Daily Paint Works Gallery if you are interested in purchasing. Thanks.
