Melissa's Bellydance Classes
DANCE
Melissa has studied and performed various styles of Middle Eastern dance since
1994, including bellydance (various styles including tribal and cabaret), Arabic
regional folkloric, and Persian Classical dance. She is adept at veil work, balancing
(shamadan and sword), and creates a highly energetic and artistic performance.
Melissa has been seen performing solo at various venues, with much acclaim.
She has also danced with Anisa's troupe, Amara's troupe "Ya Helewa!," the Adam
Basma Middle Eastern Dance Company, A. Nazemi Persian dance troupe (Director of
Pars National Ballet), and at other special events in and around Los Angeles.
Her early dance training includes jazz, ballet, modern, tap, baton twirling,
etc.! She considers dancing her favorite form of creative and spiritual expression.
HEALING Melissa is also
a Reiki Master. Reiki is a vibrational healing
technique which can dramatically improve ones life on all levels - physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual. It is highly recommended for all persons, living entities,
and situations.
STUDIES Melissa
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Art from the University of California,
Santa Barbara, where she also studied Cultural Anthropology and took part in intensive
study, experimentation, and performance with the American Shakespeare Company.
Her other interests and areas of study include alternative nutrition, deep
tissue massage/structural bodywork, and being a mentor ("big sister") to a preteen.
