More Male Bellydancers

Drakon, Male Belly DancerDanielle barAbba (DRAKON) has been dancing in the Central Texas area (based in Austin, Texas) for the past 8 years !  He dances "Raks Sharki" and uses a Scimitar sword!  He is the producer and star performer at a monthly show stage style (Desert Passion Middle Eastern Dance Theater) which features 8-10 professional belly dancers from around Texas.  He performs at various clubs and other shows as well.

Drakon is currently the only consummate male Middle Eastern Dancer in Central Texas  and infuses him with a burning passion that he magically transmits in a most refreshing manner. He is a gifted dancer with a love for this dance form is deeply embedded in his soul.  His diverse performances of classical Egyptian “Raks Sharki” along with folkloric dances, particularly Nubian, Gawazee and Saide combines with  masterful use of a Scimitar sword combines to create a unique and powerfully intense personal style.   And whether he’s dancing with a silk veil or a sword. When his body moves to the rhythm of the music, his sacred and sensual feelings are felt by his appreciative audiences.

He is also a popular instructor, but many ask the question, Why is a man teaching women to belly dance? As a practicing Reiki Master, he knows that the Universal Life Force Energy moves the body to the music’s rhythm, so he first teaches his students a variety of ways to connect to that energy flow. Then, while in that sacred meditative state, he carefully and patiently guides them through all the basic “traditional Egyptian” moves and techniques and almost magically, they are able to isolate the muscle groups to make their bodies “do that."

He says, “When waiting backstage and I hear My music start, then I allow that Energy to take me.  I just go along for the ride.”
